The Topics Change, The Barriers Don't

Every relationship runs into the same barriers — the fears, expectations, reactions, and sensitivities that quietly turn a conversation into a standoff. Each session takes one of them, live and with your questions, and works it in real time: naming the story underneath, finding the need it's protecting, and moving it toward connection. The topics rotate every two weeks. The method underneath them never changes. Come with a hard conversation of your own, or just come to learn — either way, you'll leave with something you can use that night.

The F.E.R.N.S Map: One Method, Five Barriers

Behind every hard conversation are four barriers — Feelings & Fears, Expectations, Reactivity, and Sensitivities — bound together by a single story: the attribution, the meaning we assign to what our partner did. Every one of those barriers points toward the same exit — your Needs, the N at the center of the method. The F.E.R.N.S. Method is a seven-step process for recognizing your own threat-detection system — the quiet, automatic ways the brain hijacks you into self-preservation — and moving through it. The goal isn't to protect yourself from your partner. It's to protect the relationship: to understand and communicate what you actually need, then move it through the steps that bridge back toward connection.

Method — an integration of relational psychology, philosophy, and neuroscience that turns those conversations into a path toward connection.
